Japanese singer and composer Alaiman Arai Mitsuru, in memory of a good friend who died young, would mourn him every year on his death anniversary, but he could not properly express the feeling in his heart towards his friend until someone showed him this poem one year. He was surprised to find that this was the feeling, so he translated the poem into Japanese music and wrote this song - "A Thousand Winds of Time" Unexpectedly, when the single was released in November 2003, it only sold more than 500 copies. It was not until the last day of 2006 that the song was recited by Kimura Takuya and sung by Akikawa Masashi in the Japanese NHK Red and White Confrontation Singing Contest program. As a result, not only did Akikawa Masashi become an overnight sensation, but "Thousand Winds of Wind" also immediately became a household name in Japan. It is translated into Chinese as "A Thousand Winds Song" or "Transform into a Thousand Winds".
